adjusting for laws,
the historical morals
rate is at new lows
there is a blatant
conflict of interest when
revolving doors spin
government reform
means having to say sorry
for my corruption
"Jesus, how do you know?"
"It's instinct, it's the first thought."
Activism does.
activism is
love in politics that's
not anti-government

Politics II
although you can say,
"you can do it,"
there is a difference
"I'm the citizen" bit
although you can say,
"this is for you,"
there is a preference
"this is from you, too"
although you can say,
"I am serious about this,"
there is a deference
"I will diss this"
although you can say,
"God bless America,"
there is an allegiance
"that's from me, ha!"
"you can do it,"
there is a difference

"Save our Earth," a poem
Save Our Earth
by David Weller
green ecology
by David Weller
green ecology
healthy, clean environment
losing the battle
stocks, bonds and money
out of touch with our main street
absence of the soul
mountains now topless
streams, rivers now sewage pipes
unwelcome to seas
rain still comes and goes
but their intensity woes
detract from living
is it drought we want
or floods and wind damages?
carbon makes the score
does it matter if
you are left, right, center when
there's too much carbon?
"I don't know for sure."
"I have my heart set on no."
That's disappointing.
leadership reminds
constituents importance
there's too much carbon
we are its steward
return to nature and we
return to living
sunshine, breeze, rain, waves
come into my life today
energy God made
nature gives more than you think
it's ours, we're steward

"Reform," a poem
Reform
by David Weller
what is it, but
news from the outside
who listen, too,
those alike abide
where but not here,
yet is always aside
when for the den's
vipers inside,
how, they know,
is beside their pride,
why as they try
against the red denied

"Citizens vote," a poem
Citizens vote
by David Weller
political corruption is...
gaming the system for...
special interests of...
ideology and business so...
quid pro quo or...
freedom for money for...
those interests vote as...
an investment return thereby...
corrupting legislation for it's...
not in the public interest so...
at election time vote...
for only ethical candidates as...
it's the citizen thing to do

"Activism II," a poem
Activism II
by David Weller
who dares is who cares
about his own interest
through activism of him
who moves the earth
through thick and thin
about government
what it's meant, intents
his heart speaks out
about issue mis-use
overturning doubt
with news, his views
coming together
to forge and renew
change for good
because what matters
has meaning, not feeling

"Leadership," a poem
Leadership
by David Weller
You charge for access,
I believe in free speech
Money is corrosive,
To independent thinkers
Money is not free speech,
Free speech is for people
Represent your constituents,
Not the fundraisers
Leadership can be voted in,
Corruption can be voted out
Leadership is independent,
And so the voter be

A letter to man about nature
A letter to man about nature
by David Weller
What kind of climate
do you want?
How can we be optimistic,
if it's been in man's hands?
Yes, God made Earth
and we praise Him for it!
God provides
if you ask him, or if you don't.
Man has shown he has the power
to abuse Earth.
Our mistake is that we forget
God controls Earth.
Who is better at nature,
God or man?
God has left that
up to us.
God or man?
Make your decision.
God provides,
do you let him?
If man provides,
he abuses Earth.
God is all-knowing,
Man is mortal and a learner.
We've seen what
unknowing man has done:
Deplete and abuse
nature.
What has God done?
Create Earth and nurture it.
Isn't it time we
let go and let God?
Never underestimate God.
Never overestimate man.
God is eternal,
Man is mortal.
God creates,
Or Man's mistakes.
You decide, because
God loves you.
Merry Earth day,
every day of the year!

"To the candidate," a poem
To the candidate
by David Weller
promises made are
not promises kept
listen to the voters
those who have wept
those who have lived
all problems, except
those voters solve
remember who's boss
the voter decides
listen to the voters
take on their side
take on their concerns
all solutions, no pride
the candidate resolves

"I am the voter," a poem
I am the voter
by David Weller
what does it take
to vote around here?
why should I make sure
I'm ready to vote?
I'm a proud American,
registered, no fear
I'm a vowed taxpayer,
why have the poll moat?
I'm more important
than any election aide
and why the partisan
election officials?
roll out the red carpet
for this voter, self-made
I am the decider now,
damn the tutorials

"Go occupy," a poem
Go occupy!
by David Weller
we meet with our brothers
out in the street
we lift up each other
out where we greet
we support one another
in actions we take
we march all together
in triumph we make

"Aboard occupy," a poem
Aboard occupy
by David Weller
aboard occupy
called as to duty
solidarity
absorbed unity
we will move forward
we will prove our word
we've still strove enough
we still love as tough
live in the spirit
stay tarry in it
may carry onward
strive on stay on guard
"Dance!," a poem
Dance!
by David Weller
dance, to forgive,
we're all, alive!
dance, to forget,
our memories, let!
dance, for peace,
let go, release!
dance, all night,
forget, who's right!
dance, with a spirit,
revive, who's in it!
dance, to occupy,
lift all, of us high!

"We occupiers," a poem
We occupiers
by David Weller
we make
our amends
we wake,
our friends!
we demand
our justice
we're in hand,
as just is!
we live
in the present
we strive,
none to resent!
we assess
what is good
we press,
what we should!
we move
with conviction
we love,
no division!
we act
no politics
we tack,
no polemics!
we fight
the good fight
we right,
in our sight!

"Occupy," haiku poems by David Weller
I believe our political culture in the USA needs to be reformed into a system that a civilization can be proud of. Here a few insights as short poems I wrote tonight; I hope they are a blessing to you and this great nation of ours.
Occupy
by David Weller
social acts of love,
signals not of good or bad,
but what's not evil
displaying one's own
originality is
solidarity
electricity
can light main street, not wall street
#OWS
the rich have it that
money creates politics
go pro-creation
hot are the sidewalks
that lead to chummy Wall Street
sneakers are required
greedy financiers
think they already do know,
yet the wise do sow.
Quickly, what is the
reason for the tax season?
Nourish government.
computer money
does not calculate into
honest transactions
commerce depends on
good managers to build on,
not manager's son
to be ideal is
not to be subliminal
it is substantial

Politics

Crass pundit hacks

Crass candidate cracks
Crass money bags

Crass campaign ads
Crass party movements

Crass voter vents
Crass representatives

Crass officials' pensives
Deformed political vultures

Read a Better Politics-Poetry Blog of Poems!
A few months ago, I published a series of brand new political poems on the blog "Politics-Poetry". As the US Poet Laureate has said, we never stop editing our poems. I've looked over my new poems on P-P with fresh eyes and, yes, I edited several on that new blog.
I'm now delighted to share with you a much better series of poems at Politics-Poetry. I hope you can take the extra time to enjoy them a-new. Thank you

Poem for goodness and justice renewal: "Come on, come out!", by David Weller
To the Occupy movement and all those willing and able to bring into renewal a society of goodness and justice...
Come on, come out!
by David Weller
Come on, come out!
Wherever you are!
be in our place,
a nation's star!
Come on, come out!
Whoever you be!
you are our might,
right with a glee!
Come on, come out!
Whenever you can!
time's not for talk,
time's your best fan!
Come on, come out!
Whatever you do!
come, with fervor,
come with your view!
Come on, come out!
However you will!
you are our light,
fight with your skill!
Come on, come out!
Why, you are brave!
the future is ours,
love's what you have!
Come on, come out!

Haiku poems on good government and good politics, by David Weller
On good government and good politics
by David Weller
To be ideal
is what we are striving for.
Otherwise, no deal.
time is on our side,
just as the stars swing the sky,
just souls you and i
even a full moon
has light on its other side
stars are everywhere
vote for the one who
has the least hair and most jokes
he/she will be wise
Constituents want
more than the 4th of July
they want the whole pie!
citizens relate
to their representatives
when they are like us
equal access means
not only more listening--
it's comprehensive
frankness, not boldness
breaks the ice of cleverness
into true witness
debates are to be
held, not for rhetoric,
but application
blessed be the poor
the homeless, the disabled,
yes, the neediest!
Save, love knows no dire consequences

Poem in honor of nonviolent patriots: "Love is Won", by David Weller
In honor of the Americans and supporters making personal sacrifices for a better country. We all may not make it to Wall Street or Washington Park, but our hearts and minds are with those who can.
Love is Won
by David Weller
love is creedence,
love is true
nothing is defense,
nothing to hew
love is pointed,
love is able
everyone's annointed,
everyone's capable
love is action,
love is kind
there is no faction,
there for to find
love is appreciated,
love is cared
winning's all capacitated,
winning's all well fared
